Revaz Sokhadze: Addressing Critical Issues in Kindergarten Rehabilitation

16 May 2025

"We visited the kindergarten undergoing rehabilitation in the Zhinvali Settlement. Initially designed for 150 children, this facility holds great significance for the local population. Across the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, 26 kindergartens are currently under construction or rehabilitation. Ensuring that all these projects are completed with high quality and within the designated timeframe is of utmost importance to us. During our assessment, certain critical issues regarding the facilities were identified. The builder has been instructed to address these deficiencies within a specified period, and both the Ministry and the Fund will exercise maximum control on a daily basis to ensure compliance," - said Revaz Sokhadze, the Minister of Infrastructure, following his visit to the kindergarten construction site in  Dusheti Municipality.

The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure is conducting the construction and rehabilitation of four kindergartens in Dusheti Municipality, all of which will be built in accordance with international standards.

Brand-new kindergartens will be constructed in the villages of Ananuri and Pasanauri, while the facilities in Choporti Village and Zhinvali Settlement will undergo full-scale rehabilitation. Upon completion, these four kindergartens will accommodate approximately 400 children.

Funded by the Georgian Government, the total cost of these four kindergarten projects amounts to GEL 7 million. In total, the Fund is overseeing the construction and rehabilitation of 23 kindergartens across the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.

At this stage, construction and rehabilitation have already been completed for six kindergartens. Overall, more than GEL 46 million has been allocated only for the kindergarten development program in the region.

Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, accompanied by the Executive Director of MDF, Beqa Urushadze, and representatives from the Governor’s Administration, visited the construction site to inspect the progress.

As part of the project, facilities will be equipped with play and sleeping rooms, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces. The construction scope also includes the development of internal and external spaces, recreational zones, communication infrastructure, and sanitary amenities. Importantly, all kindergarten buildings will be fully adapted to accommodate individuals with special needs. Through these initiatives, children will have access to modern, high-standard kindergartens close to their homes.
