Revaz Sokhadze: Contractor Given Deadline for Problem Resolution, Daily Oversight Ensured

15 May 2025

"Unfortunately, the Marneuli Water Supply and Sewage System works have faced persistent challenges. The project has been ongoing for several years, and I believe, to some extent, the contractor's negligence has contributed to the delays. We have set a specific timeframe for the contractor to resolve these issues, and we will oversee the process on a daily basis. I want to extend my sincere apologies to the residents of Marneuli for the inconvenience caused. We are committed to putting forth maximum efforts to ensure the completion of this project as swiftly as possible," - said Revaz Sokhadze, the Minister of Infrastructure, during his visit to the Marneuli Water Supply – Sewage System development site.

The minister also emphasized that a specific schedule will be established and communicated to the public in due course.

The United Water Supply Company, under the Ministry of Infrastructure, is spearheading the construction of new water supply and sewage systems in Marneuli.

The project entails a complete overhaul of the water supply network, ensuring uninterrupted 24-hour access for residents. This includes the installation of modern pumping stations and new water reservoirs. Additionally, the initiative covers the construction of a wastewater network and collector systems.

Since 2024, residents have been gradually connected to the upgraded 24-hour water supply system.

Upon completion, the new infrastructure will ensure high-quality, round-the-clock water services for Marneuli Municipality and three adjacent villages, fully aligned with international standards. Additionally, Marneuli town will benefit from a new wastewater system. A modern wastewater treatment facility is also under construction, designed to minimize environmental impact (Solutions Pvt. Ltd (Leader of the JV) and IN-SI LLC (JV partner)).

Funded by the Asian Development Bank, this project will ultimately enhance water supply and wastewater treatment services for approximately 25,000 beneficiaries, improving overall living conditions in the region.
