14 May 2025

The Ministry of Infrastructure is carrying out major educational, road, and sports development projects in Rustavi.

Revaz Sokhadze, the Minister of Infrastructure, along with his deputies, the Mayor of Rustavi, and representatives from the Governor’s Administration, visited the city to inspect ongoing construction efforts.

The full rehabilitation of Rustavi Public School No. 21, designed for 830 students, is nearing completion. Additionally, renovation work at Rustavi Public School No. 6 is set to be finalized by the end of the year.

The projects include upgrades such as modernized classrooms, sports playgrounds, sanitary facilities, renewed yard spaces, and new heating, water supply, and sewage systems. Both schools will be fully adapted for individuals with disabilities.

Under the state’s kindergarten construction and rehabilitation program, two new kindergartens are being built in Rustavi, scheduled for completion by the end of the year. These facilities will include sleep and playrooms, administrative spaces, lifts, evacuation stairs, and outdoor recreational areas with playgrounds. Both kindergartens will be fully accessible to children with special needs.

Additionally, state-funded rehabilitation work is underway at Kindergarten No. 23 and Kindergarten No. 31, which will serve 200 and 450 children, respectively. These projects are expected to be completed within this year.

To support sports infrastructure development, construction has begun on a technical football center and two football fields, with GEL 5 million allocated from the state budget. These projects are scheduled for completion this year.

The Minister also visited road improvement initiatives in Rustavi and Gardabani municipalities. Full rehabilitation is underway on two sections of the Rustavi–Gardabani–Vakhtangisi road (8.6 km and 10 km), which pass through densely populated areas and had been hindering travel. These upgrades aim to enhance travel conditions. Additionally, reconstruction of the 8.5 km Rustavi–Jandara road is in progress. The total budget for these projects is estimated at GEL 38.5 million.
